Full-Time: 40 working hours
Start date: 1st. August 2024
Limited initially until 31st July 2026

Overview of Role:
The Design Technology Assistant will support the Design Department and oversee the use of the Makerspace. This role involves assisting in classes, managing resources, maintaining equipment and helping develop integration of the Makerspace.


YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES
  • Oversee bookings in the makerspace
  • Support makerspace integration for Primary and Secondary Classes
  • Ensure maintenance of equipment and reordering of supplies needed for the makers space
  • Prepare materials for Design classes
  • Maintain equipment, communicating maintenance or safety concerns to Head of Department
  • Support workshop classes when needed
  • Conduct regular checks and maintenance on all equipment to ensure they are in good working condition
  • Identify and troubleshoot any issues with equipment, communicating these to the Head of Department when necessary
  • Manage the inventory of supplies and reorder materials as needed to ensure the department is well-stocked and prepared for classes and projects
  • Prepare materials and resources required for upcoming design classes
  • Set up equipment or software needed for specific design lessons or projects
  • Provide hands-on support during workshop classes, assisting students and instructors with the technical aspects of design and fabrication
  • Offer guidance on the safe and effective use of makerspace tools and equipment
  • Keep detailed records of equipment usage, maintenance schedules, and supply expenditures
  • Develop promotional materials and events to raise awareness about the makerspace and its capabilities among students and faculty
  • Organise showcases or exhibitions to display projects and creations made within the makerspace
